How It Works

Solar PV panels generate DC electricity by converting sunlight to electrical energy. The Solar Inverters will convert the DC power to AC power at the grid frequency, allowing the solar energy to power loads of the building.

Depending on the time of day, the solar system will generate varying amounts of power. Therefore, any excess load requirements will be covered by the DEWA grid automatically since the solar system is connected to the same point of connection as the grid. On the other hand, if the load is lower than the solar production, all excess power will be exported to the DEWA grid. The entire import-export system is automatic since it is a grid-tied system.

A bi-directional smart energy meter from DEWA will be installed to measure both outgoing and incoming energy (to and from the grid) so that at the end of each month, your electricity bill will only charge you for the net units (kWh) used after subtracting all your solar production. If there was an excess export in any month, those kWh will remain in your DEWA account to offset future consumption.
